Impacts on human health in Denmark

Denmark can expect a warmer climate, both milder and wetter winters and warmer and drier summers.

On a yearly basis, more precipitation is expected, but with less rain falling in summer. Summers will also be characterized by both spells of drought and heavy rainfall. Maximum water levels both on the Danish west coast and in Danish waters are expected to rise, just as maximum gale force winds are expected to rise. The risk of extreme weather conditions with prolonged heatwaves and wilder storms is also set to increase.

Climate change and allergy

The diseases which risk being influenced are asthma, rhinitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory infections.

Climate change and allergy

Temperature rise

Increase in temperatures in Scandinavia of 2-4° C up until 2100. Researchers are predicting that, in 2050, Denmark will have a similar climate to the current climate in central Europe.

This will have major consequences for the spread and growth of plants.

Danish government strategy

Danish strategy for adaptation to a changing climate

The government's strategy for adaptation to climate change should be seen in connection with government efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
